East Lyme Public Library
East Lyme Public Library is a community library offering books and other library resources to provide the information wanted and needed by people of all ages, with a service oriented staff to make information accessible. Our collection with 147,000 items is housed in the Library and Community Center. This Center houses Senior Citizens, Youth Services, and the Parks and Recreation Offices.
HOW TO GET YOUR LIBRARY CARD
Library cards are available to all East Lyme and Niantic residents at no charge. Apply at the Circulation Desk. If you are 15 years or older bring proof of your name and current address. A parent or guardian must sign the application and provide identification for any child under 15 years of age. Temporary residents may have a card after paying a refundable $10.00 fee. You are responsible for returning borrowed materials on time or pay a fine. You must reimburse the library for lost or damaged material. You are financially responsible for items checked out on your card. If your card is lost or stolen, or if you move, you must notify the library immediately. Please call 860-739-6926.
LIBRARY CARD HOLDER BENEFITS
Your card is a permanent card. It is valid as long as you live in East Lyme and must be renewed every three years. You may check out most books for three weeks. DVDs and some other special items have different loan periods. You may check out as many as 25 items at any one time, with a limit of 6 DVDs per person. All information about your borrowing is confidential. Your East Lyme library card will be honored at most public libraries in Connecticut. There is access to a pay copier, Fax, wireless Internet , a typewriter, computers and the Internet. Books and magazines may be returned to any Connecticut library. Please return DVDs directly to the East Lyme Library.
Books and Magazines - $.10 per day
Book Express - $.25 per day
Toys, Kits, Tapes, CDs - $.10 per day
DVDs / Videos - $1.00 per day ($10 maximum per item)
Reference material - $.50 per day
Lost Bar Code - $2.00 charge
Items on reserve may not be renewed. Most other materials may be renewed, in person, by phone or online, 2 times for three-week intervals each. We DO renew by telephone. We now have 2 bookdrops – one just for media. Our bookdrop for books is located outside the community center to the right of the main doors.

The bookdrops may be used when the library is closed for books and most returns. DO NOT return toys, or kits in the bookdrop.
